Especially the process of searching for holes. How to find a badger hole will be described in this article.

How to find a badger hole. A very difficult task for a hunter without a dog. Finding a hole by footprints is almost impossible, since it occurs mainly in the autumn months, when there is no snow cover. Even when you see a badger, it is problematic to determine the location of the beast's lair... Although traces of the badger's presence in the lands can be found everywhere: these are excavated nests of earthen bees and dug up anthills. It is easy to determine the work of a badger: an almost cylindrical pit with smooth edges remains at the site of the “crime”. Often such pits can be found when picking berries and mushrooms. And it's better to remember where you met them.

In practice, for a hunter without a dog, there are 2 sure ways to find badger holes.

Simple. Ask locals or hunters where there are badger holes. If no one is engaged in badger fishing, then you will be given a place with great pleasure.

Difficult. Understand yourself. In fact, it is not so complicated, but rather energy-intensive. I will write about him.

So. Let's start with the intended place of hunting, more precisely, with the hunting ground (or you have already found the pores, see above). To search for a badger, it is better to choose a farm with forests into which ravines protrude. In this (and in many ways in this hunt) we will be helped by topographic maps, preferably on a large scale, like those of the General Staff. Everyone's favorite Google maps and others are little helpers in our business. In the article, I am talking about the central zone of Russia, so there are no problems with finding a suitable site: this relief is typical for almost its entire area.

Why with small forests and ravines? The search circle can be narrowed down by adding one more link - a stream or a spring. Such conditions are the most favorable for the life of a badger, it is this combination that allows him to find maximum food in a short time, the course of the beast is reduced. And, as you know, a holy place is never empty.

Yes, the badger is also found in other places, but it can be more difficult to detect it. Bypassing many kilometers of field ravines is much more difficult than 2-3 small ravines protruding into the forest for a maximum of half a kilometer. The word “small” does not always mean “easy to master”: sometimes these ravines seem to be chopped with an ax. But it is in them that the badger in our area likes to stay.

Now the most energy-intensive part begins. It will be necessary to break away from the monitor and easy chair and bypass the planned ravines. As I warned in advance, this is a difficult task. Usually the most difficult thing is the first reconnaissance, when badger settlements are unknown. I note that for a successful hunt, the more settlements and holes you know, the better. Reconnaissance always takes place in the summer, since it is undesirable to waste precious time during the already short hunting season (I remind you that badger hunting is open from August 15 to October 31). During the summer season, you can find a sufficient number of hunting places, equip them if necessary and make a picture of the movement of badgers. I will be guided by the fact that it is the first reconnaissance that is taking place here, that is, we are getting to know the lands.

So, we have defined the search area. Then we print the map or use special programs and upload the map to a smartphone or navigator (it’s still better to have a printout and a compass with you, electronics sometimes break). From the equipment we will need: a knife, a rope of 10 meters, wading or waterproof boots (necessarily with a good protector!), Insect repellent, a flask of water. It is very good to have an anti-encephalitis suit. Be sure to have binoculars, you can use any if reconnaissance is carried out during the day. If the goal is to detect a badger, then it is better to take high-aperture binoculars. The ravines are usually heavily overgrown, so that even on a sunny clear day, light hardly breaks through the crowns of trees. Eight-fold binoculars are enough for the eyes.

But if there is not enough time, you can apply the following tactics: we find the junctions of ravines, branches or branches and search them, and also do not forget about the exit points of the ravine from the forest. If the slopes of the ravine are clearly visible, you can walk along the bottom, be sure to examine each path that approaches the water - it can be a badger's path, it always approaches the water in the same place. If it is not possible to walk along the bottom, you need to go along the slope, below the shore, while it is necessary to inspect the terraces. If the vegetation allows, you can view the opposite slope with binoculars and, in general, all interesting areas. And I also take pictures of hard-to-reach places: sometimes thanks to these pictures I find holes. The ravine must be passed from both banks!

We move carefully along the ravine. Sometimes the burrows are on very steep slopes (photo above), and going down to them is not an easy task. If you are not confident in your abilities and climbing skills, it is better to use a rope. Settlements are usually located either on the shore or on terraces.

On the example of a map with the designation of the possible locations of the settlement and following the search tactics, in just over an hour, a settlement with 18 holes was discovered. During 2 weeks of searching, 5 residential settlements were discovered. Considering that the searches were carried out in two farms "blindly" only on maps, without the help of local hunters and only in the morning hours, this is a very good result. For each exit it was possible to find one settlement. I planned the exits in the morning hours for two reasons: sometimes you can meet a belated badger and in the morning it is more or less cool. Sometimes it was the heat that was the culprit for the termination of searches in highly branched deep ravines.

How to find a badger hole

The settlement itself represents a site on the bank of a ravine (photo below). If you walk along the bottom and do not know what the badger's path to the water is, you can safely pass by even such a large "town". Therefore, I try to always walk on the slopes just below the shore, even if this is a more difficult and slower process.

Fine! We found holes! It remains to be seen whether they are living or not. This can be told to us by a full path near a hole and water, a toilet. Settlements are rarely empty, and a badger can come to individual burrows from time to time. It is advisable to sniff the burrows. If a pungent smell comes from the hole, then most likely it is occupied by a fox. Also, any waste of its life activity testifies to the capture of a hole by a fox.

Next, you need to find the most advantageous location for a sit-in. It is advisable to spot several sections depending on the prevailing wind direction (the so-called wind rose, it can be found on the Internet for different cities). On some burrows there is an opportunity to arrange an ambush from the opposite bank (usually such burrows are found at the beginning of a ravine). If it is impossible to equip a place on the ground, the option of arranging a sitting on a tree is likely. Happy hunting!

Mr. Freeze can rightly be considered one of the most serious opponents of Batman. For a long time, disputes have not subsided: is it even worth classifying him as a villain? How many fans and comic book writers position Victor as an anti-hero? After all, committing his crimes, he is not guided by a thirst for profit, all his thoughts are focused solely on saving his terminally ill wife. In the game Batman: Arkham City, the villain appears as one of the bosses, the fight with him is very different from all the others in strategy and approach. The reason for the sudden confrontation between Batman and Freeze at the Gotham police station will be the antidote, and the stumbling block in the negotiations is Nora, Freeze's wife, kidnapped by the Joker and hidden in the industrial area of ​​the city. In combat, stealth skills and the ability to quickly adapt to the situation will come in handy, since frontal attacks and ten-fold combos do not work. The battle from beginning to end will be in constant motion: one will hide, the other will tirelessly search. Key to victory - stealth strikes. After each missed attack, Mr. Freeze will change the rules of the game in his favor: you cannot perform the same trick twice. Do not forget that in the past he was a brilliant scientist and had an analytical mindset, so the approach to him should be special.

Starting conditions and rules of the battle with Mr. Freeze in Batman: Arkham City:

  • Batman and Victor are in the same room, all entrances and exits to which are blocked by ice. Getting into the field of view of the enemy at a long distance, the eared one runs the risk of being cut down by a jet of ice, at close range - to grab it with a butt or receive a powerful blow from a force field. With a protracted game of hide and seek, Mr. Freeze begins to actively use the heat trace detector: wherever Batman goes, he will track him by thermal fingerprints. In the event of a break in the trail, for example, near obstacles or at the edges of the sites, Victor will release three detectors into the air: they will scan the room, find the missed target, even if it is in cover, and the pursuit will continue.   5. Attack from the window: there are wide windows in the northern and eastern parts of the room. We lure Freeze to them (from any side) and hide. As soon as he passes outside the window, we carry out an attack. Having recovered, Victor will break and freeze the rest of the windows.
  6. Disstructor: yes, yes, a remote that was obtained a few missions ago with the help of Victor himself. We aim at the enemy and disable his suit. After that, the suit will be reconfigured so that the disruptor will no longer affect it.
  7. magnets: there are two large magnets in the room - in the northwestern and southern parts. We are waiting for Victor to pass by, and we shoot at the magnet with a remote electric charge. He will be instantly attracted to the magnet. At this point, it will be harmless, after the magnets will be frozen.
