Corrugated paper carnation flowers step by step. DIY paper carnation

Carnation is an unusual flower that combines delicate beauty and strict geometry of lines. Each petal has a spectacular carved structure. Many lovers of creating paper crafts do not even try to reproduce the work of nature itself, thinking that this is a very troublesome and time-consuming task.

However, there are several ways to make a carnation out of paper with your own hands, some will be easier to master, others really have several time-consuming steps. In the article we will figure out how to make such a spectacular flower, both voluminous and flat. From the first, you can make a magnificent bouquet and put it in a vase or give it to a friend for a holiday, attach the other to a sheet of cardboard, creating a holiday card.

One thing is for sure, be sure to try to make a carnation out of paper with your own hands, after a detailed explanation, you will be able to make it with ease.

Corrugated paper flower

For such a voluminous carnation, you will need corrugated paper in two colors. In the photo below, red is chosen for the bud and green for the stem. However, the flower can be made in absolutely any color. Carnations are white and purple, burgundy and blue, pink and yellow. What all flowers have in common is carved leaves. How to make a carnation out of paper with your own hands, read on.

Red paper is cut into wide strips, which are folded into several parts, and the edge on one side is formed into small triangles. Try to keep all ends the same. Then the tape is unfolded and the most time-consuming part of creating the craft is performed, namely, folding with a small "accordion", each face of which corresponds to a cut corner. Some omit this process, however, after folding, a do-it-yourself carnation made of paper has a more natural appearance.

Rod attachment

After processing, the edge of the workpiece is smeared with PVA glue and attached to the edge of the stick. You can take a thick wire, but before winding the paper, crochet its upper edge so that the flower clings to the rod more tightly. When winding, the paper is collected by hand, and at the end everything is fixed together with threads.

Further work is done on the stem. Using a strip of green, the lower part of the flower is first pasted over, and then gradually descends down along the entire wire. The edges are also smeared with PVA glue. From thin strips, you can make leaves and weave them into the base.

tissue paper flowers

Do-it-yourself paper carnations can be made using a simpler method. You will need thin paper, thread, sharp scissors or tongs. They immediately take a bunch of rectangular leaves folded together. They are folded with an "accordion" 1 cm wide. Then, using sharp scissors, the ends of the workpiece are cut into corners.

A nylon thread is tightly tied up exactly in the middle of the "accordion" and a tight knot is tied. It remains only to carefully level each layer separately with your hands, lifting the parts up.

Making carnations from circles

Do-it-yourself blanks for creating carnations from colored paper are made the same. These are circles cut according to a single pattern. Then each piece is folded in half, then again. The resulting triangles are cut not completely into four parts. Trim off a small center point. And the outer edge is processed with scissors so that many small corners are obtained.

Then the circle is formed "accordion" by sectors. When unfolding the workpiece, a relief part is obtained. This way you can make 5 or 6 elements. Assembly is carried out sequentially. All the petals are put on the wire with a rounded edge from below, one after the other. At the end, they are pressed down with your fingers so that the ends look up. The lower part of the craft is wrapped with threads.

Between the layers of paper, PVA glue is applied to the center of each circle. It remains to wrap the lower part with a strip of green paper and arrange the stem stem in the same way. Now you know how to make paper carnations with your own hands.

The easiest option

Such a carnation is assembled from a strip 4–5 cm wide. In order for the flower to have rounded wavy petals, you need to use your fingers to press and stretch one edge of the workpiece unevenly. Attach the prepared strip to a wire rod with a bent end. You can bend the loop with pliers or simply twist the edge around the axis. This will further prevent the flower from slipping off the stem.

Then the lower edge of the flower is tied with threads and wrapped in green paper, like all the wire to the very bottom. Use PVA glue to attach.

Postcard in quilling technique

A voluminous postcard with carnations can be for Victory Day or for dad on February 23. Quilling strips are chosen the same width. For petals buy bright shades, and for leaves - green. If you are not yet familiar with the quilling technique, then we recall that this is a twisting of strips around a rod, the function of which can be entrusted to a toothpick or a thin wooden skewer. If you like to create crafts, then get yourself a special hook with a slot at the end.

How to make original paper carnations with your own hands? Step by step description read more work. Petals are made by winding freely on the rod. The edge of the strip is glued to the last turn with PVA glue. Then each detail needs to be crushed with your fingers, creating a heart shape. They are glued to the cardboard postcards in two rows. The bowl for the petals is made with a dense wrapping. After attaching the edges, you need to press the middle a little. The indented part is the part to the petals. It remains to make twigs and leaves. They are performed by winding on a thick rod. You can use a marker or a medicine bottle. After attaching the edge, the leaf is squeezed from both sides and curved in a wave.

For any of the above methods you will need:

  • paper - red and green. Depending on your choice, red can be a napkin, ordinary colored or corrugated paper, green - colored is the most convenient. You can make carnations white, yellow, orange, but by Victory Day it is better to leave red,
  • scissors,
  • wire,
  • PVA glue.

Simple do-it-yourself carnation

There are several easy options for making paper flowers.

For the first, take a strip of red paper 5 cm wide, cut off from the long side of an A4 sheet. Make cuts 3-4 cm deep, 0.5 cm apart. Wind this strip on the wire, gluing the layers, wrap the “stem” with green paper, stick the cut out leaves on it (it is better to glue them in pairs so that they are thicker and hold better).

Second: take a folded napkin, fold two more times to get small square ik. Cut a circle out of it. Make cuts along the edges of the circle every 0.5 cm, gently fluff the carnation, separating the layers with a needle. The finished flower is useful for decorating a postcard, just stick a strip of green paper under it. If you fluff it up properly, you can stick it on the wire.

Corrugated paper carnation

This material is ideal for flowers with wavy petals, because you can "sculpt" anything out of it.

For example, take a strip half a meter long and 8-9 cm wide, fold it in length with an aspect ratio of 1:2. Pull the workpiece along the fold, it will take on a wavy shape - these will be the “petals”. Wind the paper around the wire, add green - the carnation is ready!

Another option: take a sheet of corrugated paper about the size of A4, fold it like an accordion along the short side, the width of the blank is 2 cm. Smooth out the folds. Fold the resulting accordion in half, attach the wire in the middle. Cut the short, straight sides so that you get a sharp ledge. Now carefully straighten the petals, wrap the wire with green - that's how the carnation turned out.

Flowers are a festive attribute that gives a great mood to the one to whom they were presented, as well as a great way to decorate the interior, decorate gifts and much more that your imagination is capable of. Artificial flowers will come to the rescue if you need an effect for a long time, since, unfortunately, it is very difficult for living ones to prolong freshness.

Paper flowers are a win-win option, since their manufacture does not require either huge efforts or large material costs. But the decor of artificial flowers will turn out no worse, and will delight for a long time. Of all the many workshops on making, you will choose to your liking, and in this article we will look at how to make carnations out of paper with your own hands.

Materials for making paper carnations

In order to create a beautiful flower, you will need a minimum of materials, namely:

  • Colored paper. We will consider several options for crafts - from napkins, corrugated paper and origami carnations from double-sided colored paper. You choose the color of the carnation yourself, respectively, and the color of the paper will be to your taste. Plus green paper for decorating the stem and petals;
  • Glue. You can choose both glue stick and PVA;
  • Scissors;
  • Wire.

Method number 1: carnations from napkins

This variant of carnations is suitable for the design of postcards, stands or wall newspapers. For this method, you will additionally need a stapler to fasten the petals.

  1. We fold the napkin of the chosen color twice in half to make a square.
  2. From it we cut out a circle, simply cutting off the corners.
  3. We fasten the middle of the circle with a stapler twice, applying staples crosswise.
  4. We make cuts along the entire circumference of the circle, approximately half a centimeter.
  5. Carefully separate and fluff each layer of the napkin. The resulting flower can be glued to a wire, or you can decorate a holiday card.

Method number 2: Corrugated paper carnation

Flower petals in this method can be attached to wooden skewers, or to wire.

  1. For each carnation we take 4 squares of paper, 10 cm by 10 cm in size.
  2. Fold each square in half twice. The resulting small square is folded diagonally, and we get a triangle. We bend one of the edges of the triangle up and cut off the protruding part.
  3. We unfold the triangle one turn and cut the edge with teeth.
  4. Unfold until a semicircle is formed and cut along the bends to the middle.
  5. In the same way we make all four sheets. Glue the end of the skewer or wire with paper, forming the middle of the flower. We make a hole in the middle of the petals, grease with glue and thread it onto a skewer. We form a flower by lifting the petals up.
  6. In order to make the flower stem green, you can wrap the skewer with corrugated paper or ribbon of the desired color. Cut and attach leaves if desired.

Method number 3: Carnations from corrugated paper, wavy

These carnations are very beautiful, delicate and look like natural ones.

  1. For one flower we take a piece of paper about 50 cm long and 10 cm wide. We wrap the long side 3 cm inward.
  2. Along the entire length of the segment, stretch the paper with your fingers, making it wavy.
  3. We apply the flower stem, wire or skewer to the edge of the paper and wind it inward. At the same time, we straighten the edges so that the flower turns out to be magnificent.
  4. We fix the formed bud with a wire at the base and cut off the end so that a downward angle forms.
  5. Wrap the lower part of the bud and stem with green floral tape or corrugated paper.

Whichever method you like, the result is a beautiful decoration for a festive decor. What color carnation will you choose, in all the variety of the palette, you can give free rein to your imagination. Who said that a flower has to be red?

Guys, listen to the poem "Carnations sparkle with dew on Victory Day"

...We forget veterans too often
That merciless, ruthless war...
Only on May Day we present them with tulips...
Carnations are bright... In the color of the glow of spring...

And today, on the anniversary of Victory Day
We give scarlet flowers to veterans...
And in their hearts the fire, warmed by attention,
Freed from "permafrost"!!!

They don't complain, they need help...
And keep vitality, optimism!!!
It's not easy to live, every day fighting with fate -
Everything continues for them to fight for life!!!

Every year the sun undies them weaker and weaker
And he doesn’t take him to the parade in the spring ...
Yes, unfortunately, there are fewer of them left ...
Living memory... we are losing... about the war...

Well, now they press to the heart
So dear to them "victorious" flowers...
Gray heads bow with reverence,
In mournful silence, frozen for a moment ...

Carnations slightly frozen from the cold
Laid to the Memorial of Eternal Memory...
Of them, as if a groan, aching heart, quiet,
Suddenly breaks out ... And tears suddenly flow ...

Carnations - fires of courage! And fortitude!
Their unbending, proud flowers
On a knotty, strong stem - pain, devastation,
All troubles will endure! Enemies will not break them!!!

In the eyes they fearlessly look fierce death!
And they soar high with a bunch of flowers!
Ready to lead the Soldiers of Victory into mortal combat -
For honor, freedom, justice and love!!!

Carnations are red - like our veterans,
That do not bend under the weight of fate
And never give up on the battlefield!!!
"Flowers of Fire"! "Flowers of Love"! "Flowers of Struggle"!

Yes, sometimes Victory sparkles with dews
On bright fiery, terry petals...
Then they dream of war disturbing pages,
After all, Victory Day is “with tears in our eyes”!!!
Yes, since childhood, carnations have been associated with victory, veterans, parades on the square and a lot of carnations. Carnations speak of admiration for a person, that we will remember him. After all, we admire our veterans and are grateful to them for the fact that we now live under a peaceful sky.
